Mighty Milers Program (Ongoing)

Mighty Milers is a really exciting program being held at recess on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

During the school year, the children walk, run, or dance to accumulate bits of miles that ultimately add up to a marathon distance (or longer), all the while getting extra exercise, earning prizes (t-shirt, medal, membership card, etc.) and lots of great supplies for the school.

Nominations for HAS Board

The Nominating Committee has nominated the following individuals for the Board.

We have not nominated anyone for President, Co-President, or Corresponding Secretary, because we have not received word from anybody who is eligible for those positions that they consent to be nominated for those positions.
From our bylaws:
e. Only persons who have signified their consent in writing shall be eligible to be nominated to such an office, either by committee or from the floor;
f. Following the final report of the nominating committee at the general membership meeting at which elections are to be held (as provided in Article VI, Section 2 of these bylaws), an opportunity shall be given for nominations from the floor; and
g. Nominees from the floor shall have given 5 days notice before the general membership meeting at which elections are to be held (as provided in Article VI, Section 2 of these bylaws) of their intent to run. Notification must be in writing to the Local PTA President, Recording Secretary and Nominating Committee Chairman.

HAS K-8 Pool Party (June 9)

Come one, come all for our annual HAS K-8 Pool Party.  Our party will be held on Friday, June 9 from 8:00 to 10:00 at Centennial Avenue Pool.

We will have swimming, ice cream treats, a DJ and dancing, prizes and give aways.  All students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.  This event is open to all HAS Students but each participant must be registered in advance.

HAS PTA Family Picnic (June 2)


Join us for 3rd Annual
HAS PTA Family Picnic

 

 

 

Where:    Nomahegan Park (picnic area/softball field by playground)
When:     Friday, June 2 (Deadline extended: please sign up by Friday, May 26)
Time:     5:00 – 8:30 pm
Cost:      $10/family (voluntary contribution through signup.com, cash, or checks payable to HAS PTA). In case of inclement weather, the event will have to be cancelled and your donation cannot be refunded.

We are so excited for our third (ok, second due to last year’s rain out) PTA family picnic. The PTA will supply the food- hamburgers, hot dogs, side salads and watermelon. New this year The Kona-Ice Truck!!  Please bring your own drinks (non-alcoholic) and chairs!

This is old school fun.  Let the kids play while the parents catch up!  We will have the ball field and playground.  Adults, we will be playing the teachers again in a fun softball game! Game starts at 6pm.

Teacher Staff Breakfast & Luncheon (5/2 & 5/3)

full luncheon  on Wednesday (5/3) .

Join us for Hillside Avenue School’s 10th Annual Spring Scramble
~ Awards Ceremony, Finishers Medals, and Prize Drawings ~

Pre-‐Register by April 7, 2017 to guarantee your T-‐shirt order

Pre-‐Registration fee (by 4/7): $10 per entrant ($40.00 maximum for family of 5 or more). Includes a Spring Scramble t-‐shirt for each pre-‐registered participant*
Registration after April 7th: $ 12.00 and limited t-‐shirt availability

*T-‐shirts and race bibs for the entire family (if pre-‐registered) will be delivered to one child’s classroom (or in the office for Middle School students) at Hillside Avenue School a day or two prior to the race. If you have no children who attend HAS, you may pick up your T-‐shirt(s) and bib(s) on race day. Please have your children wear their Spring Scramble T-‐shirt to school on Friday to encourage other students to join in on the fun as race‐day entrants.
