Road Runners (starts Jan 18!)

We are excited for the return of New York Road Runner’s (NYRR) activity based recess program, Rising New York Road Runners (formerly know as Mighty Milers—feel free to check out NYRR’s website for more specifics about this fantastic program http://www.nyrr.org/rising-new-york-road-runners#WhatIsRisingNYRR ).  This new program will be very similar to the Mighty Milers program.  On a specific day of the week (Thursdays 11:45-12:50 for 2nd-5th gradersMondays 12:15-12:50 for 1st graders), children will have the option meet in the gym during recess to run laps around the indoor gym.  At the end of the period, the # of laps are documented and submitted to NYRR where they are tallied up and incentive prizes are sent to the school for the children.  Parents are needed to hand out popsicle sticks while the kids are running, which helps the children remember how many laps they ran and to also cheer the kids on as they complete their laps.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact email Mariah (mariahgpta@gmail.com).  This program could not run without parent support, thanks so much for helping out!

Tricky Tray (March 3)

It’s time for the biggest event of the HAS PTA school year…. TRICKY TRAY is almost here!

On Saturday, March 3rd, the HAS PTA will be hosting our annual Tricky Tray!  It’s a fun and exciting night and we need a lot of help to get ready!  We are asking all Hillside Avenue School parents to donate at lease one thing to this event:  items, money, time:  whatever you can give will be most appreciated and vital to making this the most successful year yet!

Remember how much fun your child had at Trick-or Trunk?  Or STEM night?  Or how awesome those middle school socials and pool parties are going to be?  This is how the HAS PTA pays for those awesome events!  Here’s your chance to help keep these events going!  It’s time to help give your child the best Hillside Avenue School experience ever!

There’s a ton of ways to help!  Have holiday gifts you don’t want and can’t return?  How about your company?  Do they have any box seats or gift certificates/cards they are willing to donate?  Can’t think of anything to donate?  Checks are awesome and easy to write! Or you can donate online!   In the main office at HAS there is a “Tricky Tray” table and folder for any and all donations you’d like to give!

Have an hour to spare and want to chill with some awesome people?  Come to the Tricky Tray “Wrapping” session on February 24!  Can’t make it that day? No worries!  Come help set up on March 2!  And if you just can’t stop giving?  Volunteer to help the night of March 3rd, when you come to the Tricky Tray!!  The possibilities are endless!

Here’s the link to volunteer your time:
Here’s the link to volunteer your dough:  (It’s on a “Membership” page… but it’s for Tricky Tray donations! Just click the “Contribute” button” You’ll see it there!)
Any and all Tricky Tray questions/concerns should be forwarded to:  hastrickytray@aol.com
Thanks in advance for all you do for the kids at Hillside Avenue School!
