HAS PTA Events & Activities for the Week of 10-29-18

  • The PTA Board would like to say a HUGE, heartfelt thank you to the chairs and volunteers who ran this past month’s PTA Events! Without you, the students would not have enjoyed the following wonderful events at school: 4th Grade Bike Rodeo, Walk to School Day, Book Fair, 6th Grade Social, Pumpkin Patch, Red Ribbon Day and Trick or Trunk.

 

  • Halloween 🎃 – 10/31/18 – The Elementary Halloween Parade takes place after lunch @ 1:30 pm, followed by in classroom parties. Allergy specific information regarding food being served, will be sent home to parents for review prior to the class parties.

 

 

  • Special PTA Meeting – 11/15/18 @ 7 pm in the HAS Auditorium.

All Hillside Avenue Families are invited to attend a special PTA meeting on November 15th, at 7:00 pm in the HAS auditorium, with the Superintendent, BOE members, and other District administrators to discuss the proposal to “Reimagine Cranford Public Schools.”   This will be a special event for our school community allowing the opportunity to engage in conversation and have our specific questions and concerns addressed. This meeting will be in addition to the larger community meetings that are taking place at CHS on October 30, November 28, and December 17.

It is highly recommended that prior to any of the meetings you view the original presentation introducing the proposal in order to be well informed and current on all information presented.

 

  • Holiday 🎁 Shoppe – We need lots of helpers especially for the little ones!  Elementary students will come to the shoppe with their teachers during the day and middle schoolers will be able to shop before and after school. We need help setting up on Wednesday evening 12/5 and during the store hours of 8:30am-4pm on Thursday, 12/6 and Friday 12/7.   • Tricky Tray – 2/23/18 – Please donate! The HAS PTA’s largest fundraiser will be here before you know it!  Please donate any unwanted new items you may have at home that can be raffled off at the event. All items can be brought to the HAS main office. We combine these items to make beautiful baskets and prizes to raffle. As long as it is new, no item is too small or too unique to use.

 

  • If you haven’t already signed up, we need you to join the HAS PTA today! The PTA is a membership organization and we rely on your support. Membership is $10 per individual.  Your membership dollars go directly back to the students. Each year we contribute $10 per child for field trips. We also sponsor many events & activities during the school year such as: Picture day, Trick or Trunk, Stem Nights, Classroom parties, Book Fairs, Pool Parties & much more. We offer different levels of membership that include donations to Tricky Tray, the largest fundraiser at HAS.   • Volunteer Opportunities/PTA Committees – Our children benefit from your involvement.   1. HAS School Spirit Week – Monday – Sports Jersey, Tuesday – Crazy Hat Day, Wednesday – Halloween Costumes, Thursday – Dress to Impress, Friday – Blue & Gold Day.

 

  1. Community Meeting to discuss Proposal to Reimagine CPSD – October 30, 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm at CHS auditorium. Presentation Topics: K-2 buildings with full-day kindergarten, comprehensive grade 3-5 school, comprehensive middle school, high school career academies, budget, and Q&A.

  1. Girl Scout Troop 40332 and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Union County are celebrating National Adoption Day as part of November’s National Adoption Month! As courthouses across the country hold celebrations and finalize adoptions, Union County’s will be Friday, November 16, 2018 Troop 40332 members are working on their Silver Award, collecting games, popcorn and popcorn buckets for Family Fun Night baskets for each adoptive family. After all, family memories make the best memories! HAS families can drop items off at 7 Cranford Terr. Please see attached flyer for additional details.

  2. CHS Food Truck & Music Festival – Will be held on Sat. Nov. 3rd. Please see attached flyer for details.

  3. Yankee Candle Sale – Attention 8th grade families: Yankee Candle fundraising information was sent home last week. Online sales will continue through December. The sales your family make goes directly towards cutting the cost of your child’s DC ticket. Email Amy with any questions or concerns. [email protected]
