HAS PTA Events & Activities for the Week of 10-01-18

School Event Reminder: Elementary School Back to School Night is Thursday, 10-4-18 @ 6:45 PM

Bring your Box Tops. Label them with your child’s name, grade, and box top count. There will be a collection box in the main hallway during BTSN, or you can send them in with your child to school. Fall collection deadline is 10-22-18. Prizes will be given to individual top collectors.


  • HAS Walk To School Day – On Wednesday, 10-3-18, we are encouraging students to walk to school. Walking to school is a great way to add physical fitness to the day while connecting with the HAS school community. The HAS PTA will be handing out pencils and stickers to students who walk to school that morning.


  • BOOK FAIR – Help! We still need volunteers, especially the 2:00 – 3:30 shifts and Middle School Day. Elementary Book Fair is scheduled for 10/3-10/4/18. Middle School Book Fair will be Friday, 10/5/18. We are unable to publish the times that teachers are signed up. However, if you want to know when your child’s class is attending the book fair, please email your child’s teacher or call the school. We will have to close the shop early if we do not get the coverage we need. To volunteer, please visit:

  • Trick or Trunk – 10/26/18 – Trunks Needed! – Families can volunteer to decorate their trunk with a Halloween theme of their choosing. Sign up here: On friday, 10/26, report to the Teacher’s Parking Lot at 4 pm. We will provide each car with candy to pass out. The cars are assigned numbers, and votes will be taken throughout the event. The 3 most popular cars will be awarded a prize. We ask that if your child is attending this event, and you are not decorating a trunk, that you donate a bag of allergy safe candy or non food items. Here is a list of some acceptable donations:  Haribo Gummies, Mike & Ike’s, Utz Halloween Pretzel Treats, goldfish, Skinny Pop popcorn, Dots, Surfs Sweets, Enjoy Life Cookies, Tootsie rolls/pops, PEZ, Charms Blow Pops/lollipops, Skittles, Smarties, Double Bubble Gum, Sour Patch Kids, DumDum Lollipops, Swedish Fish, Ring Pops, Twizzlers, Jelly Belly Jelly beans, Airheads, & Starburst. Non food giveaways, such as pencils, erasers, stickers, tattoos. etc. *PLEASE BE ADVISED: Any candy that is donated that cannot be distributed due to allergy concerns will be donated to the Cranford Police Department.


  • Join HAS PTA Today! –  It’s super easy to sign up! The PTA is a membership organization and we rely on your support. Membership is $10 per individual. We offer different levels of membership that include donations to Tricky Tray, the largest fundraiser at HAS. Please visit and select the membership level that is right for you.  Your membership dollars go directly back to the students. Each year we contribute $10 per child for field trips. We also sponsor many events & activities during the school year such as: Picture day, Trick or Trunk, Stem Nights, Classroom parties, Book Fairs, Pool Parties & much more. We need you, please sign up today!


  • Volunteer Opportunities/PTA Committees – Our children benefit from your involvement. Please visit this signup link to browse through upcoming activities & committee opportunities.  Even a few hours of your time can make a huge difference toward the success of an event.

Other Things Happening Around the school ( Non- HAS PTA events)


  1. Project Graduation is a drug and alcohol-free party sponsored by the Cranford High School PTA for our seniors on the night of graduation.  In order to make this night a success, we need your help with fundraising to cover the cost of the festivities. Our first fundraiser, Football Mania, is getting underway right now.  Volunteers from Project Graduation will be on hand during your Back to School Night to sell tickets to underclassmen parents. This is a great way for you to help us out and at the same time you will have a chance to win some cash prizes!! Football Mania is an exciting sweepstakes based on pro football with 30 prizes awarded each week and 2 grand prizes at the end of the season.  Each game card has a 1 in 17 chance of winning. Last year Cranford winners received over $3,000!! The cost of each ticket is $20.”
